Pictures of some prototype and early model Jeeps taken at Beltring. The slat grilles are early production versions of the better known Willys MB and Ford GPW models. Rumour has it that the Budd prototype changed hands for USD 50,000 although someone put a 'sold for UKP1,500' sign on it...They'd have been killed in the rush at that price! To my eye, they're great as a collectors item and I certainly wouldn't turn one down!!...but like the MA, they never look quite right - the true beauty of form following function was reached in the late model MB and GPW. Still - each to his own!
